Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who is eager to lead Lull’s data engineering initiatives. Lull’s data engineering team powers the analytics, reporting, and predictive modeling engine that provides insights for the entire company. We have ambitious plans to use our advanced models and analytics for new products and new ventures. We want you to lead the data engineering initiatives that are the foundation for these plans. You must have an interest in the business applications of your work, as you will be partnering closely with internal business units to execute high impact data projects. Your curiosity and breadth of technological expertise allow you to understand how the pieces of our architecture fit together. You thrive when given responsibility and autonomy, and you can execute a data engineering project from conception to production.

Available Locations: While our headquarters are in Santa Barbara, California, you can telecommute from anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities:

Owning all Analytics Data Infrastructure Monitoring daily ELT processes Continuously evolving Lull’s data engineering architecture Building and Maintaining: API data extraction integrations with ad platforms ELT for reporting, analytics, and machine learning Growing and training our data engineering team Creating lean development processes and standards Training analysts on our analytics database for the purpose of self-serve SQL Liaising with backend engineers 70% of time spent building, coding and executing 30% of time spent managing and training Note: You will not be training or designing machine learning models.

Technologies you will use:

AWS: Redshift, S3, DMS, Spectrum, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, Cloudwatch, more DBT (data build tool - fishtown analytics) Kubernetes Python (Pandas, Jinja) Heap Analytics (extraction) Ad Tech APIs: Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat, etc Git/GitHub Apache Spark Jira Minimum Requirements:

2-5 years’ experience in data engineering & ELT Strong interest in the business applications of your work Thrives when given autonomy and independence Management, mentorship, or leadership experience Methodical troubleshooter and QA Organizational and project management skills PostgreSQL (Redshift) or equivalent Power user of AWS or equivalent Experience with data extraction from APIs Python CLI Git/GitHub A Strong Candidate has experience in/with:
